Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards Exemplar Mathematics Lesson Plans

The primary purpose of the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness (CCR) Standards Exemplar Mathematics Lesson Plans is to provide mathematics teachers with a sample framework for exemplar lesson plans.  The EQuIP Quality Review Rubric was used as a guideline to ensure that our lesson plans are not only aligned to the 2014 MS CCR Standards for Mathematics, but that they also address the depth of the MS CCR Standards for Mathematics, exemplify the key shifts (Focus, Coherence, and Rigor), provide the instructional supports needed to meet a wide range of learners, and clearly identify assessment expectations.

The standards in each lesson plan represent a series of challenging content standards from the 2014 MS CCR Standards for Mathematics.  Each 2 – 4 day lesson plan includes the following components to aid teachers as they plan instruction:

  • Title
  • Estimated Duration
  • Real World Purpose
  • Standard(s) (written as “I Can” statements)
  • Prerequisite Skills
  • Materials/Resources
  • Key Vocabulary
  • Student Exploration Activity
  • Lesson Activities
  • Lesson Closure
  • Essential Questions
  • Standards for Mathematical Practice
  • Intervention Activities
  • Enrichment Activities
  • Performance Based Assessment Task
  • Lesson Plan Attachments

As teachers begin to create their own math lesson plans, administrators are encouraged to use the EquIP Quality Review Process Form to evaluate lesson plans and provide feedback.

Additional lesson plans will be added throughout the year.
