MDE Invites Applicants for Mississippi Teacher Residency Program

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) invites aspiring teachers to apply to be a member of the next cohort of the Mississippi Teacher Residency (MTR) program, which is a two-year commitment that combines coursework and on-the-job training to prepare prospective educators for the teaching profession. Applications for the 2020-21 school year will be accepted January 3 through February 3, 2020.

ACT Scores for Mississippi Juniors Released

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has released ACT results for the spring 2019 statewide administration of the ACT to all public high school juniors.

The average score for juniors decreased from 17.8 in 2018 to 17.6 in 2019. The percentage of juniors meeting the benchmark scores for all four tested ACT subjects remained flat at 9% from 2018 to 2019.
