MDE Announces Student Testing Task Force Members, Application for Students

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) announced today members of the Mississippi Student Testing Task Force that will examine current student testing on the state and local school district levels and to determine best practices for monitoring student progress in meeting grade-level and subject area learning goals.

Four Mississippi Public School Students Selected as 2018 Presidential Scholar Semifinalists

JACKSON, Miss – The Mississippi Department of Education announced today that four Mississippi public school students have been selected semifinalists for the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors the nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

School- and District-Level 3rd Grade Reading Passing Rates Available for Public Viewing

For Immediate Release: June 5, 2018

JACKSON, Miss. – School- and district-level passing rates for the first administration of the 3rd Grade Reading Assessment are now available to the public.

Statewide, 93.2 percent of 3rd graders passed the test. The initial pass rate has increased every year since the test was first administered, rising from 85 percent in 2015, to 87 percent in 2016, to 92 percent in 2017.

More than 60 school districts had a pass rate of 95 percent or higher.
