Mississippi Students Impacted if Sequestration Occurs

February 25, 2013

JACKSON, Miss. – Dr. Lynn House, interim state superintendent of education, said sequestration would impact every school district in Mississippi.

“A drastic cut such as this would be devastating to an already underfunded education budget in Mississippi. Public schools in Mississippi rely on more than $795 million to fund various programs, from school lunches to special education. It is our hope that an agreement can be reached before Friday to avoid any loss of desperately needed funds for our students.”
