The Mississippi College and Career Readiness course (CCR) was developed to support the vision and mission of the Mississippi Department of Education that all students who graduate from high school are prepared for college, career, and active citizenship. The CCR course curriculum outlines the knowledge secondary students should obtain and the types of skills relevant for a successful transition to postsecondary and the workforce.
The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has maintained its existing requirements for teaching the College & Career Readiness (CCR) course. Educators holding a valid secondary (7–12) teaching license are eligible to instruct CCR without the necessity of additional endorsements. While the 942 CCR endorsement is available, it is not a prerequisite for teaching the course. This endorsement is granted to educators who successfully complete the Mississippi Council on Economic Education’s (MCEE) Master Teacher of College & Career Readiness program. To qualify for this program, teachers must be currently teaching the CCR course or be scheduled to teach it in the forthcoming academic year.
The purpose of the College and Career Readiness Course is to provide planning and instruction for postsecondary transition. The following courses are approved substitutions for the CCR course:
The CCR course may be taught in one of the following sequences:
1 semester in either freshman or sophomore year with the remaining semester taught in junior or senior year
