Architecture and Construction

Mississippi Construction Education Foundation (MCEF) was formed in 1996 by the construction trade associations to address the shortage of skilled craft workers. To address this workforce crisis and to meet the construction industry needs in Mississippi, the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) and the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation (MCEF) joined together to establish a partnership involving business/industry and education with emphasis on career opportunities in the construction industry.

The mission of the MCEF is to train the craft workforce for the construction industry in the State of Mississippi. To meet the needs of the construction and maintenance industry in safety, training, and education, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) developed a competency-based craft modular known as CONTREN Learning Series. The partnership involves utilizing the state curriculum framework for the construction programs and CONTREN Learning Series resources as information for teachers.
