Wright will take questions and provide information about the Humphreys County and Yazoo City school districts\u2019 transition to the Achievement School District (ASD).<\/p>\n<p>The meeting schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5 p.m., May 8: Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1030 Main St., Louise<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>6:30 p.m., May 8: Howard J. Austin Performing Arts Center, 601 Price Street, Belzoni<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>6 p.m., May 15: L.T. Miller Community Center, 930 Lamar Avenue, Yazoo City<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In April, the Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) selected the Humphreys County and Yazoo City school districts to be part of the state\u2019s first ASD. The establishment of the ASD follows a state law that requires the SBE to intervene in persistently underperforming school districts. The SBE will be the governing body of the ASD, and local school boards will be disbanded no later than June 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note: Members of the media may participate in a conference call with ASD Superintendent Jermall Wright, Ed.D., at 10 a.m. May 7.
