The task force will work to determine best practices for monitoring student progress in meeting grade-level and subject area learning goals. <\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 8pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 107%\"><span style=\",sans-serif\"><font color=\"#000000\">Four Mississippi high school students, who will be seniors in the fall, have been selected as members of the task force. From each of the four congressional districts, the students will represent their peers in discussions about how to ensure the state prepares them for college, the work force or the military.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 8pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 107%\"><span style=\",sans-serif\"><font color=\"#000000\">The first monthly meeting of the task force is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19 in the 4th floor boardroom of the Central High School Building. Space is limited for the meetings, but the meetings will be live-streamed and archived. The task force will produce a report on its findings and recommendations by December 2018.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 8pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 107%\"><span style=\",sans-serif\"><font color=\"#000000\">Student members of the task force are:<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 8pt\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"News20180618\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"13731814-7a83-4f4c-9fd7-8f000279fd38\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/news20180618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"color: black\"><span style=\",sans-serif\">The task force will discuss student assessments with the goals of determining the types, quality and number of tests students take on the state and district level and making recommendations on ways to ensure student testing is streamlined but measures the learning goals designed by Mississippi teachers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 10pt\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"color: black\"><span style=\",sans-serif\">The MDE is accepting public comment on student testing at the following address: <a href=\"mailto:testingtaskforce@mdek12.org\">testingtaskforce@mdek12.org<\/a>.
