{"id":3739,"date":"2025-11-03T10:30:47","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T16:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mdek12.org\/communications\/?p=3739"},"modified":"2025-11-03T10:36:42","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T16:36:42","slug":"mde-announces-one-college-three-universities-to-receive-mississippi-science-of-reading-designations-for-2025-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdek12.org\/communications\/2025\/11\/03\/mde-announces-one-college-three-universities-to-receive-mississippi-science-of-reading-designations-for-2025-26\/","title":{"rendered":"MDE announces one college, three universities to receive Mississippi Science of Reading designations for 2025-26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEWS RELEASE<br \/>\n<\/strong>For Immediate Release: \u00a0November 3, 2025<\/p>\n<p><strong>MDE announces one college, three universities to receive Mississippi Science of Reading designations for 2025-26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JACKSON, Miss. \u2013 The Mississippi Department\u202fof\u202fEducation (MDE) has designated three Institutions of Higher Learning as Mississippi Emerging\u202fScience\u202fof\u202fReading\u202fEducator Preparation Programs and one institution as a Mississippi Science of Reading Educator Preparation Program for the 2025-26 school year.<\/p>\n<p>Mississippi College, Mississippi State University and Blue Mountain Christian University received the Mississippi Emerging\u202fScience\u202fof\u202fReading\u202fEducator Preparation Program designation.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson State University received the Mississippi Science of Reading Educator Preparation Program designation.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition is for\u202fcolleges and universities\u202fthat have trained professors and teacher candidates in the\u202fscience\u202fof\u202freading, exemplified a change\u202fof\u202finstructional practices, and are ensuring that their graduates enter a classroom ready to instruct students in structured literacy practices.<\/p>\n<p>All Mississippi Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) are invited annually each summer to apply for the science of reading recognition.
