The Office of Child Nutrition (OCN), Division of Training and Program Outreach serves as a statewide training resource for School Food Service Administrators (SFSAs), Food Service Program Managers, Child and Adult Care Food Programs and Summer Food Service Programs. OCN offers annual and monthly training sessions that assist food service personnel with operating successful Child Nutrition Programs (CNP). The Training Division coordinates, plans and organizes structured training sessions that reinforce the responsibilities and regulations that are mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and MS Department of Education (State Board Policies). Organizations that participate in our Child Nutrition Programs are trained by qualified staff through regional and local training sessions. These sessions are designed to ensure that professional competencies, expectations and compliance with federal, state and local laws are being met. Further, it is our job to ensure that all participating organizations are offering healthy and nutritious meals to children and qualified adults. This requires the development and implementation of curriculum that supports the professional advancement of all food service personnel.
