K-12 Development Resources

The MDE Office of Career, Technical, and Workforce Education is supporting districts in developing tailored K–12 career-connected plans in collaboration with industry partners and economic development organizations. These efforts ensure students have meaningful opportunities and skill development for career awareness, exploration, preparation, and work-based learning throughout their K12 experience that prepare them for Mississippi’s high-demand, high-wage careers.

MDE created a statewide taskforce to drive the conversation around what the MS K12 Workforce Development Model should include. Representatives from across MS participated and included Elementary, Middle, and High School Principals, Counselors and Teachers, CTE and Workforce Directors, Superintendents, post-secondary representatives, Business and Industry, Mississippi Business Alliance, and Accelerate MS. The taskforce developed this model identifying grade band areas of focus and grade-specific themes.
