ESSER-Funded State Projects

ESSER-Funded State Projects

The Mississippi Department of Education invested its American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds in services to support student safety, learning and health. All school districts had the option to opt into the services at no cost. Districts that implement the new services will have free access to them through the end of the ESSER III funding cycle, September 30, 2024. The information below details the progress of services to date.

College and Career Readiness

The College and Career Readiness platform manages college and career readiness goals and automates the Individual Success Plans (ISPs) for each student. More than 40 Mississippi districts currently use MajorClarity for their ISP system. This platform manages college and career readiness goals and plans for students in grades 7-12. The system helps students explore careers, select courses that will help them meet their goals, prepare for work-based learning and coordinate college and other postsecondary applications.

Progress: List of District Implementation Status

Spotlight: Recently, our district was considering purchasing an additional instructional technology application for our schools. We used the data available in our EdTech Impact dashboard to examine which applications teachers were using in their classrooms to help us decide whether to buy the new application, invest in the additional paid features of freemium applications already being used, or not buy anything at all.  Thanks to EdTech Impact, we did not have to rely on anecdotal stories, data from other districts, or vendor presentations. We were able to gauge our needs and teacher interests to make a decision without wasting valuable time and dollars on an application that may never be used. - Erin Mason, Technology Director, Jackson Public Schools
