Due to a large enrollment in the fall, the State-funded seats in Mississippi Virtual Public School (MVPS) have been filled. There will be no additional State-funded courses available in the spring. Students who are presently enrolled in a 1 Carnegie unit class are not affected by this. They may continue with their courses this spring. There is always the option of using MVPS on a district or parent pay basis. Please visit the MVPS website for information concerning those options:

Districts may also contract with other vendors who have been approved through the Mississippi Online Course Application (MOCA) process. Those vendors and course codes are currently listed online at:

If you have questions regarding the online course options, please contact Dr. Dana Bullard at or Jennifer Nance at . You may also call the Office of Secondary Education at 601-359-3461.

For more information on district or parent pay registration or course offerings (the list has changed from previous school year), visit or contact the MVPS Program Manager, Sarah Ault via e-mail at

We will do our best to keep you notified of registration dates and other important information. Please contact Jennifer Nance at the Mississippi Department of Education at or (601) 359-2604 if there are any questions or concerns about this program.

Overview of the Program:

Established by legislation in 2006, the Mississippi Virtual Public School (MVPS) is a tuition-free program that offers students the option to enroll in online courses to supplement their traditional brick-and-mortar education.

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has contracted with Connections Education to operate the MVPS.  Students throughout Mississippi now have access to Connections Education's innovative online courses and experienced, responsive teachers.

A student is limited to 2 Carnegie units per school year through this program.  Registration for courses is completed through an on-site coordinator at the local public high school.  Participation in this program is determined by each district.  To find out if this program is being sponsored in your area, contact the local public high school or district central office.
