Title I Pre-Kindergarten

Title I preschool programs allow LEAs or schools to use Title I funds, in part, to improve cognitive, health, and social-emotional outcomes for eligible children below the grade at which an LEA provides a free public elementary education (ESSA section 1114(b)(7)(A)(iii)(V) and section 1115(b)(1)(C)). Such a program is designed to prepare eligible children with the prerequisite skills and dispositions for learning that will enable them to benefit from later school experiences.  USDE and MDE have provided guidance on Starting a Title I, Part A Pre-Kindergarten Classroom, Serving Preschool Children through Title I, Part A (Non-Regulatory Guidance) and Early Learning in the Every Student Succeeds Act which can be accessed by clicking on the individual titles.
