Commission on School on Accreditation Recommends Establishing New Baseline of Mississippi Statewide Accountability System

JACKSON, Miss – The Commission on School Accreditation (CSA) voted today to recommend that the Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) establish a new baseline for assigning school and district letter grades for the 2016-17 school year. The 2016-17 accountability grades will be released in October.

MDE Releases Statewide Assessment Results for English Language Arts and Math

JACKSON, Miss – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) released today statewide results from the 2016-17 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP), which assesses student performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics in grades 3-8, English II and Algebra. MAAP is the new name for the Mississippi Assessment Program (MAP), which was first administered in the 2015-16 school year.
State Board of Education Votes to Establish New Baseline of Mississippi Statewide Accountability System for 2017-18

JACKSON, Miss – The Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) voted today to reset the baseline scores for assigning school and district letter grades starting in the 2017-18 school year and to assign districts and schools letter grades for 2016-17 based on the highest grade they are able to achieve under the current or new baseline for 2017-18.
Accountability letter grades for the 2016-17 school year will be released in October.
MDE Announces USDA Income Guidelines for Free and Reduced Price Meals

JACKSON, Miss – The Mississippi Department of Education announces the United States Department of Agriculture income guidelines for free and reduced price meals served under the School Lunch, School Breakfast, After School Snack Program, and Food Distribution Programs. Families with children in any of these facilities who are unable to pay the full price of the meals are encouraged to apply for benefits.
