State Board of Education approves three new early learning collaboratives to serve pre-K 4-year-olds

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) voted today to add three new early learning collaboratives (ELC) to the current list of 35 to provide high-quality early childhood education pre-K programs to 4-year-old students.

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) will provide 25 or more new instructional math coaches over the next four years to identified K-12 schools. The coaches will deliver professional development and coaching services to teachers and administrators that will improve student outcomes.

Mississippi’s graduation rate reaches all-time high of 88.9%

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) released today the 2021-22 school year graduation and dropout rates, which reflect the highest statewide graduation rate of 88.9% and a statewide dropout rate of 9%.

Rates are based on students who entered ninth grade for the first time during the 2018-19 school year. Among students with disabilities, the graduation rate increased to 67.1%, and the dropout rate was 19.3%.
